So I have this exact tie on today. I’m in the elevator coming back upstairs after getting a coffee in the ground floor diner. As the doors close on the elevator, a women who works in the building looks over and says, I love your tie, to which I respond, thanks, I’m rather fond of it as well and smirk. I say, I love your blouse. She says want to trade? I say, nope, you could pull off the tie, I can’t pull off the blouse. She then gets closer and straightens my tie making sure it’s perfect (which it already was, see below re: dressing well matters … ahem), to which I respond, we both know it was already straight, to which she responds, we do do we? to which I respond as I leave the elevator, yup I’m good like that and smile. It’s a good day…. *smirk.
My point, how you respect yourself and how you dress matters. I’m not a traditionally handsome man. I’m just not. I am however, charismatic and charming and confident. I pay attention to how I stand, how I walk, and how I interact with people. Now, while I’m not a traditionally handsome man, I will say I look rather good today. It matters. It is a sign of self respect. It’s a sign of self worth. It’s an indication of self esteem. I’m good with all that.
